espalier help needed

    1 responses

dale starts with ...
How should I prune my newly planted fruit trees,(in winter), as espalier. They are growing madly now.Have done the initial shaping in early spring, but on some I think I have pruned too much from the main stem. Can I damage things by pruning the wrong new growth, should I leave it for later or what, desperately needing help and not sure what Im doing.

You only learn by doing !

espalier is mostly summer pruning.

Pick out the vertical shoots and leave the horizontal shoots.

Send photos if you want more feedback.
