Paul Cassidy starts with ...
This node seems to be slowing the growth of my little Golden Dorsett apple tree, but it still seems healthy enough. Is it serious? should I just replace the tree or leave it alone?

These are called root burrs which can occurr on dwarfing apples rootstocks, building up soil around the stem to just below the root graft will encourage the burrs to through out roots.
