househens says... I have tried to join permaculture forum and I'm told I have a user name and password, yet I'm blocked from posting on the forum. I've tried to get help from those who run it, but no response. Do you have contact? Are they nice people? Or am I blocked for no apparant reason, because they just don't care? So far, very disappointed with them. | About the Author househens nsw 6th May 2012 3:56pm #UserID: 6919 Posts: 1 View All househens's Edible Fruit Trees |

Steven says... Hey everyone how are you? I haven’t been on for a while but I wanted to revive this post because I think it’s a great way of exchanging ideas. Here is mine. I’m thinking of growing green mulch under my chilies and bananas which are now growing healthily in the greenhouse. the benefits I am looking for are: firstly it will cool the soil and slow evaporation, secondly it will provide organic matter and fix nitrogen fertilizing the chilies and bananas and thirdly it will provide shelter for a rich array of different insects which I’m hoping will help keep pests such as aphids under control. At the moment I am thinking cowpea but I don’t really know much about it. it would be good to plant an edible herb as a green mulch that way you can get even more benefits from them. I also need the plant to be a ground cover and not grow too tall otherwise it will shade the chilies. Does anyone have any suggestions? Parvati says... Namaste Everyone, you might like to check out The Permaculture Planet Forum - http://www.permacultureplanet.com It's orientated towards the worldwide community rather than any particular country. For permaculture videos, www.youtube.com/user/permascience is a fantastic resource and full of useful permaculture knowledge.
