Plums not producing

    1 responses

Hello,
I have a Mariposa and a Santa Rosa plum tree, don’t remember which is which. One flowers very briefly each year, the other does not. Sadly, we have never had any fruit. They were planted 5-6 years ago. In Wollongong NSW. Apparently they are suited to warm temperate climate.
Any advice? Thanks.

Hi Elyse,

Without cross pollination your plants will have less fruits but not fruits at all, it's very strange indeed. All plum trees are very easy to grow and fruit well. May be your soil is too dry and not fertile.
1. Apply citrus fertilizer 3-4 times a year (when the buds start and repeat every 2 months)
2. To ensure the fruits set you need to water well every 1-2 days during the flowers bloom and reduce the rate to 2 times a weeks after that. Cheers
