If the flowers are pollinated it may set fruit. Young trees can abort their fruit in order to grow, this is very common with small grafted tress. We recommend to remove all fruits on young grafted trees for the first two years to allow the tree to establish.

I am keen to purchase a pluot treet. I have tasted the fruit and the skin is dark with a light coloured flesh. When I enquire on the internet for regarding this tree, details appear for the plumcot tree instead. The plumcot tree appears to have a red skin unlike the pluot I have tasted. Could someone please give me details of the pluot tree, where it can be purchased and if it requires a pollinator etc.? With thanks

"Pluot" is a registered trademark of Zaiger's Genetics, rather then a generic name for a plum x apricot hybrid (plumcot). There are many varieties with different characteristics.

Not sure if they are all released in Australia, but I would look for them under specific variety names, rather then just "pluot".
