Yellow Stuff

Ed Washington starts with ...
Two days in a row I found this stuff my yard. Yesterday it formed around my cucumber plant that is near my peach tree and I washed it away. It was bright yellow but after the sun shined on it for a while it turned dark yellow. What is it? How to stop it? What harm is it?

I think it's a slime mould. Don't think it harms trees but I could be corrected.
