About My Edible Backyard

Why Gardengirl1 Love's Edible Plants

I am busy with three kids but I get a sense of satisfaction from growing some of our own food. We live in the tropics of central qld with most of our rain occurring in summer. Our biggest challenge has been improving the soil which we do by constantly mulching and using organic fertilisers.

Planted a couple of years ago and produced delicious tubers last year but we had a very wet summer last year and I think it was just too much water.
