About My Edible Backyard

Why Lee1 Love's Edible Plants

I am trying to turn a small front north facing courtyard (6mx6m) into a productive edible garden to encourage my children to garden. Just planted rasperries, blueberry, strawberry and carrots.

Great garden Lee - and a great reason to have plants! I'm just across the way in Parkdale.

This plant actually survived the extreme Summer conditions but didn't get to the suggested 2 - 3 metres tall. I have added compost etc to our sandy soil and I have split it up and hope to have a good crop. I dug up a couple of tubers and ate them - yum, similar to a nashi pear.

The 2nd Lemon tree to die in that spot - I think I shall rethink what I plant there but it did get the full brunt of the Jan/Feb scorching weather.

A week of 46degree days last January then the scorching winds of Black Saturday was just too much for this poor tree.
