26/10/09 Frost: About My Edible BackyardWhy Maria1 Love's Edible Plants Inspired by your website, I started growing my very own orchard in Sydney initially with citrus trees. As I harvested beautiful fruit, I added more tropical fruit trees in my tiny backyard, probably the only person in Sydney mad enough to grow tropical fruit trees in Sydney weather. I currently have about 28 edible fruit trees, shrubs, vines and seedlings - most of them sub tropical. Some are medium sensitive to frost, while others are very sensitive - hence I've put them in a makeshift greenhouse (using my old portable clothes line) when it started to get nippy this winter. Attached are pictures of my trees and seedlings, some with names unheard of by mainstream gardeners. Thank you for introducing me to an enjoyable and productive hobby. cheers Maria from Sydney Comments* You need your own My Edibles Page to contribute Quick & Easy |
