06/11/24 Frost: About My Edible BackyardWhy Tjoy Love's Edible Plants Ok, I live next door to Mum, who has the best greenthumb in the world, (seriously, if you think it's on it's way out, she'll save it!!). Me...I'm a touch and go gardener. It either grows extremely well or..it goes to Mum for rescue! I've only just planted my "orchard" recently. This includes, 4 types of passionfruit, chillies, herbs, salad vegies, tamarillo, general citrus, bananas, babaco, ceylon gooseberry, starfruit, pepino, blueberries, dwarf mulberry, dragon fruit, cassana. All planted last year, so not much fruit yet, except for my red paw paw, which is laden with fruit! North facing aspect mostly, the soil here is hideous. It wasn't well looked after. I've mulched with sugarcane and we got some mushroom compost in, (Mushrooms a bonus). I've got chickens now, so I am using the sugar cane in the coop and putting on vegies and garden, slowly improving. I really just visit this site to find out about things. I used to be into it all, you know botanical names etc..but too busy these days. Just put it in and hope for the best! Comments* You need your own My Edibles Page to contribute Quick & Easy |

Bananas are difficult to get up here, unless you know someone or get a tissue culture. Cheers. Please email me. Thanks!..4720 days 5hrs |
