Passionfruit - Supersweet 96A

Tabs's Edible Fruits
Update: 2183 days 12hrs

Comments: -

var. Golden Honey.  Prolific bearer of heavenly yellow fruit.  This plant lived till last year, 2017. Last year before it died from senescence it put out a bumper crop (at the age of 14 - 15)  Can no longer find this variety. The sweetest passionfruit I have ever tasted.  The Sweet Granadilla just doesn't compare. I had no insect problems, no diseases. Was planted with morning and midday sun against the house where it was protected from frost and had water runoff whenever it rained. Its roots were under the concrete driveway where it stayed warm and moist. Wish I could get another one.

Planted: 2002

Height 8 metres

Growing: In the Ground

Qty: 1

Fruit Harvest: 100 Fruit Per Year

First Fruited: 2 Years from purchase in pot

Sun/Shade: Medium Sun

Amorphophallus bulbifer 4/10

Tabs's Edible Fruits
Update: 2250 days 12hrs

Comments: -

Really fascinating 3 branched leaf with leopard markings up the single stem of light green on dark green. The flower is cream to a pink centre and develops every 2 years. The leaves develop numerous bulbs at leaflet junctions and can have up to 12 bulbs each year. Can be very weedy. Related to the big stink flower at the Sydney Botanic Gardens. Will take full sun if watered regularly but will burn in full summer heat otherwise grows in full shade. Has a large bulb at the base of the single leaf stem.  May or may not be edible.

Growing: In a Pot

Sun/Shade: Medium Sun

Pollination: Self Pollination

Pest Control:

None

Question:

Does anyone know if this bulb is edible? Amorphophallus konjac IS edible. They are ALMOST indistinguishable until you get to know them or the bulblettes or the flowers appear.

Walnut - English (Grafted) 7/10

Tabs's Edible Fruits
Update: 2250 days 13hrs

Comments: -

var. Chandler.  While I got walnuts from this plant, I never really got it to grow well.  It ended up with a root rot fungus which I successfully eliminated but it never was happy in a pot.  My recommendation is that although you can grow them in Sydney, its best to plant these trees in the ground.  I ended up giving this plant to someone who has the room to let it grow. The closely related pecans, though, are doing well in their pots.
