About My Edible Backyard

Why CelLes1 Love's Edible Plants

Started in 2005 with just a grape vine already in place.  Found it best to build mounds for trees as soil is clay.  However, our biggest problem is wallabies and kangaroos.  Until we fenced the trees it was a race to see who would get to our fruit first, us or our furry friends.

Tree is nearly 4 yrs old.  Growing and fruiting beautifully.  Planted on mound and mulched (not too close to trunk).

Sun/Shade: Full Sun

Pest Control:

Copper spray before leaves appear in late winter.  Fruit fly splash or spray if required.  Monitor with traps.

Question:

Even though tree is looking healthy and fruit is growing well the trunk has started oozing silicone looking gum.  There was no apparent damage to trunk.  Does anybody have any ideas what this could be?
