About My Edible Backyard

Why Jeremy1 Love's Edible Plants

My biggest garden challenge is working around trees and buildings that block out the sun for some parts of the year. The rewards I gain from gardening are knowlege of food producing systems and the joy of fresh produce that does not harm the Earth. The soil type in my garden is a thin loam/silt over sandstone base. The historical annual average rainfall of Sydney is 1214mm (BOM). The backyard faces north-east but only recieves medium sun in summer due to tall trees on the other side of the fence. The backyard is quite protected from wind and heavily shaded in winter. The front yard is south-west facing with the occasional strong wind. The two-storey house shades 80% of the front yard in winter, but recieves full-sun in summer. The deck is above the backyard and recieves meduim-sun all year.
