Mango - seedling - who knows (Seedling) 9/10

Nathan1's Edible Fruits
Update: 3465 days 8hrs

Comments: -

UPDATE 2014: Growing well know, after splitting the 2 trunks by accident with excavator. I staked both trnks, and bound them, has bounced back, wound seems to have healed, and it growing really well

UPDATE 2012: This has a settled in to a dozen good sized mangoes on-board, and has really flourished this year.. and has forgiven me for accidentally "clefting it in twain" from while throwing a sheet a fencing iron behind me whilst working

Just popped out of compost heap when living in Blue Mountains, so I dragged it back here.

No fruit yet, but others in the area go well. I will graft it with a named variety very shortly. It's growing quite well in full sun, on the high/dry side of my garden. I've recently added a swale for it and the other trees in same vicinity.

Grape - Pink Iona (Cutting) 8/10

UPDATE 2014: Mum got someone who didn't know how to prune it to do so, and butchered it.. So doesn't reach the top trellis anymore, but have shaped it back to one main cane, and new growth is gowing fine

UPDATE 2012: My goodness.. So much fruit, really sweet, brilliant. One died, I suspect constant dog activity

Settling in quite well, leaves developing slowly. Were left in pots for a bit too long, but seem OK now after slow start

Fig - generic, from cutting (Cutting) 6/10

Nathan1's Edible Fruits
Update: 3465 days 8hrs

Comments: -

From cuttings of a local fig at old house

Height 3 metres

Growing: In the Ground

Qty: 2

Fruit Harvest: 2.5 kilograms per Year

First Fruited: 1 Years after I planted Cutting

Sun/Shade: Full Sun

Water Given in: Winter

Pollination: Self Pollination

Organic Status:Organic

Question:

What is the "rust" developing on the leaves? The leaves stiffen and curl up, after initially growing really well. I lost an existing fig to this same problem when first moved in.

Also, this one gets a lot of a sap-sucking "scale" on it.. I'll prune most of the effected ones off, but would nice to know if any bordeaux or similar spray can stop it?

Just a seedling, and will be grafting a named variety on it soon (have actually very recently grafted a small veneer of an orange tree I have onto it, will advise how it goes)

EDIT 2014 Going great, pushed through being shaded a bit from feijoa and almond, looking fine

Not doing brilliantly yet, but was dug out by neighbour and given to me, and a fair bit of root trauma. See how it goes.

UPDATE : Has pushed some new buds. Need to mulch it up and make it a little more comfy

Mum likes these, reminds her of childhood in NZ.

Is putting on a fair bit of new growth. Not in an ideal spot (Yet. Adding swales/mulch etc shortly), but going quite well

Passionfruit - \"Nelly Kelly\" (Grafted) 9/10

Nathan1's Edible Fruits
Update: 3465 days 8hrs

Comments: - EDIT 2013  Was going fantastically, but neighbou're mother decided it had to die...  Was a good variety, well worth growing, great tasting

Going great, reasonable amount of fruit on right now, waiting for them to ripen.

Am also getting the neighbours into the swing of things by training it over to thier side as well to share it, and once they see how much fun that is, will be adding more berries etc to fence. This will also give it more afternoon sun.

Had an initial problem of rootstock going rampant over it, but that was just laziness. Have since taken several bits of rootstock with roots and potted them up, and am about to graft some upper scions of this onto them.

UPDATE: 2012: 2 seasons of plentiful fruit, quite early, starts flowering mid-july! Fruit edible in Nov. Starting to espalier around pond, and over fence for neighbours :)

Growing really well. Had a few bits of fruit on it straight from the nursery, and actually tasted quite good. Looking forward to grafting all sorts of bizarreness (almond etc) onto it at some point :)

It gets a bit neglected up there, but still going quite well. Is simply called "Tropical Peach"

DOH.. After presenting some small fruit and looking quite promising through summer 2012, it declined rapidly, and seemed to go black-ish, lose all of its leaves, and die.. Have seen several with similar behaviour in the local area, but need to read up on what it might be
