About My Edible Backyard

Why TimBeck Love's Edible Plants

Heavy soil, low winter rain , medium summer rains.  Desert so it get's very hot here in summer (we just had a week of 40 temperatures) but cold in winter.
Trying to only plant trees that are edible, except for the pool area which is going for the standard "tropical" scene.

Apricot - Moorepark 6/10

Update: 753 days 2hrs

Existing tree.  I **think** it is a Moorpark.  Masses of green fruit.

*SOB*  Fruitfly has destroued the crop.  Ahh well, at least they left the plums alone :-)  1/10/10  Chainsaw tratment to bring it to a manageable size

Fruiting Months October and November

Height 2 metres

Growing: In the Ground

Qty: 1

Sun/Shade: Medium Sun

Water Given in: Spring

Pollination: No

Fertiliser or Organics Used: Blood 'N Bone

Will probably have to buy some fruit fly traps / bait.

Question:

Anyone know the best method for pruning an old Apricot.  Most of the branches are way above harvesting height?
