About My Edible Backyard

Why Liz Love's Edible Plants

We have a small olive grove on our property and sell the fruit for the table.   As in most of Central Victoria the soil is fairly acidic so we have to keep the lime up to the olives to bring the ph nearer to their preferred level.   We have been in a drought situation the past few years, but this year to date we have had over 550ml.  That is around the 'old' average rainfall.

Water is probably our biggest challenge as we rely on rainfall to fill our dams, when they run dray - that's it for irrigating our trees.

We enjoy growing things and apart from the olive trees, wehave a little orchard of apples, pears, plums, apricots, nectarines, peaches and quinces.
