Avocado - phytopthera

    1 responses

Anna E starts with ...
This is our 45 year old fuerte avocado - located far north coast of NSW, Australia. It has produced well most of my life. This year it sat in brackish flood water for about 2 days. I'm planning to treat it for phytopthera around November. At a guess - I would say it has mild to moderate phytopthera. We've already pruned a lot of its canopy. As you can see - some canopy branches are quite defoliated. I'd love some input from anyone who has experience in this area. For one tree - is one chemjet injector enough?

Thanks!

I worked on an Avo farm at Alstonville. They heavily mulched the trees with woodchips to increase biological activity.
Also composted chikcen manure has some anti phytophora activity. For the Phos Acid injections you can find the chem label online to check the method and application rates, or pick a chemical to use and ask the Ag shop or call the company that sells it. From what I have seen on other trees, yours is pretty big and might need a few kits.
