I tend to be a bit of a rule breaker mostly because I have limited space and want maximum return. I have a Lamb Hass and a Secondo (both set fruit well on their own) planted 40 cm apart. I am keeping plants small (I prune after fruit has set) and get ripe fruit from August till December

Grant, if you want inspiration on how much you can cram into a 1/2 acre block, check out Gardening Australia's short interview with Michelle Franzinelli
Michelle used to be a member of Daley forum, but now has her own website - Jetto's Patch'.

You will be amazed at how many trees, shrubs, vines etc they have squeezed in, and all thriving!
