Can I grow Citrus trees under a neighboring poinciana tree? I have lemon & lime ready to go in the ground and would be about 3 metres from the base of the poinciana.

I doubt it. Citrus are fairly heavy feeders and need regular water. Nutrients and water would be taken up by the Poinciana. The tree roots may not be apparent now, but would soon move in.

Hi Angela

Yes you can grow citrus trees under a poinciana tree but, it will definitely struggle within the umbrella of a big spreading evergreen greedy tree. Most of the fertilizer and water that you gonna give to the citrus trees will be sucked by the greedy poinciana tree not to mention the shade that will deprive the citrus trees from making chlorophyll. It's up to you if you're willing to take the challenge.
Happy gardening 😎
