Hi all,

Just putting it out there if anyone around the Byron region has any banana pups they are looking to part with? Or any information on acquiring from growers would be appreciated as well.

Hoping for dwarf varieties, but open to any.

Happy to pay. :)

Cheers,
Pete.

Hi Pete,
in the Byron shire movement of Bananas is restricted and requires a certificate of movement from the DPI. I know this sounds difficult but its really very easy and it helps protect our banana farmers from the incursions of disease. It also applies to Tweed, Lismore and Ballina Shires. Heres the link to get one https://plant.daleysfruit.com.au/fruit/NSW-Banana-Record-of-Movement-02.pdf

Blue Sky bananas in Tully send tissue cultured plants - I bought four cultivars and they did really well. Dwarf Ducasse is probably my favourite in both size and flavour, a good choice for backyard growers. Grab your certificate and then you can start growing.

Sweet! Thanks for the info.
I had recently contacted the DPI regarding this, and they did send me that form, but I was a bit confused when they said no permit was required.

So the process is to complete the form BEFORE you purchase the banana plants?

Thanks again!
