John I just use something simliar to Dynamic Lifter, manure and a little potash. My tree is a machine for fruit! They flower brilliantly in hot weather. They are tough as old boots. Mine resond very well to a good deep watering in extreme heat like 38 oC + (but - I have sand which drains very fast and my gut feeling is that they may not like poor drainage and/or excessive humidity)
The only problems I have ever had with mine is the birds, mice and locusts - eating the fruit. I don't blame them - we think the fruit is pretty yummy too!
Anyway - don't "spoil" it too much - it doesn't need it IMHO.

Casper, I'm just an hours drive north of Sydney and a few minutes east of the F3 and both my Acerola's turn pink in spring with flowers and are in fruit for at least 6 months of the year. And yes, the parrots love them.
