About My Edible Backyard

Why Fay1 Love's Edible Plants

I love gardening, but am struggling with arthritis & gout. I am 70 y.o. & I use an electric scooter to move about the block. We only moved into our new house in June 07 & are just starting our 8th new garden. Bit of a gadabout.  Soil is loam over clay (old pasture). Block (1 1/3 acres) slopes slightly down to road facing west. I am trying to grow as many different kinds of food as I can, especially fruit, berries, nuts, annual & perennial veges. Looking at my pictures you may notice we are infested wth Patterson's Curse, also not visible are cat's heads (caltrop - very nasty, especially to wheels & feet).

Picture 1. - Local resident came for a bbq but it's not on.

Fruit fly control - The Vege Net I bought from Netpro is looking good. We just had very heavy hail storm this arvo(hail up to 3cms) & my fruit trees that have been netted are great. Still no sign of fruit fly yet but I have sprayed once with Naturalure, have to do it again n..4920 days 4hrs
Fruit fly control - Hi Everyone I have been reading this forum for years now & trying hard to get fruit & veges to grow without the dreaded Qld fruit fly. Without much success I must admit. This year I have found the vegenet mentioned by Charles, it is also available on Eba..4934 days 6hrs

2009 - Only 2 fruit this year.
