About My Edible Backyard

Why Fay Love's Edible Plants

I love gardening, but am struggling with arthritis & gout. I am 70 y.o. & I use an electric scooter to move about the block. We only moved into our new house in June 07 & are just starting our 8th new garden. Bit of a gadabout.  Soil is loam over clay (old pasture). Block (1 1/3 acres) slopes slightly down to road facing west. I am trying to grow as many different kinds of food as I can, especially fruit, berries, nuts, annual & perennial veges. Looking at my pictures you may notice we are infested wth Patterson's Curse, also not visible are cat's heads (caltrop - very nasty, especially to wheels & feet).

Picture 1. - Local resident came for a bbq but it's not on.

Rocoto Tree Chilli 7/10

My Rocoto Tree fruited.  See the green chillies in the picture.  But it fruited too late & I did not get a chance to use them.  It has lost its leaves now and I am worried about the frost. I have it in the carport, but will have to put something around it.

2010 - The frost got it last winter, so sad.
