Strongylodon macrobotrys - discoloured leaves

    9 responses

Hi All,
This is quite a rare vine (Strongylodon macrobotrys - Jade Vine) but I thought I'd see if anyone had an opinion. It has been growing well for a few months but recently, the leaves have become discoloured with yellow spots. It gets morning sun and filtered afternoon sun. Its in a large pot and I've been feeding it Seasol regularly as well as occasion feeds of Thrive. The white spots are just residue left over from a Copper treatment I tried a few weeks back.

Any suggestions will be well received.

Lady I know has one of the first vines in the country , she paid over $100 for seeds over 30 years ago . Another nursery I worked at has a fantastic vine growing over the small retail area . A few years ago there was lots of seeds set , a bit of a rare occurrence it seems .
I have seen flowering vines in Childers and have heard of one in Towoomba !!
So you should plant it out . It likes it feet in the shade and the top in the sun .
Best to have a very strong high thing for it to grow on .. likes lots of water .

How is your plant going? Did it survive? I'm having the exact same problem right now. I think it's too much water.

The vine is doing much better now. I found applying magnesium to the leaves (foliar spray of Epsom salts) improved the colour of the leaves.

Hi Phil,
Just wondering if you still have your plant and have had any luck with seeds?

I'm having extensive leave drop from my jade vine. Recently bought. I do not think it is excessive water. Compost is moist but not wet. Plant in pot and was kept in a very shady greenhouse. Any ideas / advice? Feeling desperate! Climate currently warm 24C with 55% humidity outside.
