Tropical exotic fruits in perth - update - here's the lists of what the members of the Rare Fruit Club of WA are growing: http://www.rarefruitclub.org.au/Level2/Inter.htm From memory, people are successfully growing quite a few things that the Ag Dept says aren't worth bothering wit..3053 days 3hrs
Cherry substitute for perth - blossom - you get significantly more winter chill hours in the hills than on the Perth Coastal plain (aka "the flats" for hills people). Liz's WISH LIST

Nectarine - Sunblaze

Why Liz wants it: -

From reviews, this one sounds like a tasty yellow-fleshed nectarine that will complement the harvest period of the Sunwright that I already have (and will fruit in Perth).

Peach - Newbell

Why Liz wants it: -

From the reviews I\'ve read, it\'s a tasty, late-fruiting (I\'ve already got an early one) yellow-fleshed peach that will fruit here. Just haven\'t managed to find one yet!

Nashi - Tsu Li 9/10

Why Liz wants it: -

It\'s a pollination partner for Ya Li (...Corella pear seems to be the other option, but I\'ve already got 2 European pears, and I\'d prefer to have a second nashi than a third \"normal\" pear.)

still in little pots - I have tried growing these before, and haven't managed to nurse them through the Perth summer, but I LOVE fresh raspberries, and they cost a ridiculous amount in the shops - I got a frame up for them last time, but didn't get the shadecloth and retic on in time...

Another blessing from past owners... fairly small fruit. This one is also very close to the power lines and so gets a pretty vicious pruning every few years.

Planted several years ago - hasn't done particularly well. (I've never had any fruit off it.) The mandarin and kaffir lime planted at the same time have done much better with equal levels of neglect.

Another legacy from past owners - it's a white fig of some sort, and very nice! (It would be taller, but it's near power lines and I have to give it a fairly vicious pruning every few years... which also helps to keep the fruit in reach.)

This has not been a great success story to date - I have hardly had any fruit off it, and bought a new passionfruit this year to replace it... and now the original one is loaded with fruit! (My grandfather maintained that "Sunnypash" was better than Nelly Kelly, but I haven't been able to find a Sunnypash.)
