Julie starts with ... http://www.ecogrowth.com.au/Datasheets/Nursery%20Brochure%20V2%20Nov10.pdf Due to new packaging laws, you can only buy commercial quantities of rock minerals. I have ordered a bag from a local supplier. This company previously sold 10kgs of 'organic minerals'. Other than diamonds or coal, I'm not aware of any 'organic' minerals, but we'll let that one go! The link explains why - you will have to scroll down to nitrogen to phosphorous ratios. Seems an unneccessary rule, but hey, that's nothing new! | About the Author Julie Roleystone WA 19th April 2013 9:42pm #UserID: 154 Posts: 1842 View All Julie's Edible Fruit Trees |

amanda says... Hi Julie..it looks like they have made a false and misleading comment there to start with I'm told... Can't really discuss on a public forum tho... I use a Rock dust and it's not going anywhere according to the shop guys.. It's labelled "Organic mineral balanced fertiliser" NF Rock Dust Plus... It has 0.5% nitrogen but in the form of added amino acids (and maybe from the seaweed extract and molasses) so they don't have to add non-organic nitrogen.. There used to be mandatory fertiliser registration (in WA at least) about 15yrs ago I'm also told..but now it's self regulated and things how gone a bit poorly because of this... | About the Author amanda19 23rd April 2013 10:35am #UserID: 2309 Posts: 4607 View All amanda19's Edible Fruit Trees |

Anonymous says... I was talking to a guy working at a nursery yesterday and be was talking about the new fertiliser laws in WA.. One product he mentioned was no longer available as it had too low a ratio (of N to P?). I was also reading a really interesting horticulture blog that talked about how our sands leach nitrogen ? and so if we are using regular manures etc we can end up having to overdo the P and K in order to get enough N. Garden fertilisers are a major problem for the river etc, so I guess that might be how this has all come about. Interesting stuff and I wonder what it all means for the organic gardener.
