frequency of repotting

I note suggestions that potted trees should be repotted with fresh mix every two years. I have 30-40 trees which grow but slowly and was wondering if there is an easier method eg top dressing? Or is it essential to trim the roots?

Potted fruit trees will benefit from being repotted every two years into fresh mix, trimming the roots at this time will also help to bonsai your tree, keeping it small and compact and happy in a pot. Fertilize your tree with slow release fertilizer every year and feed it with liquid fertilizer during the growing season for a healthy and productive tree.
