Can you please tell me the best variety of avocado trees for Sydney climate? Do I need an A and a B variety and can I plant them right next to each other? Any specific soil conditions required?

Hi janis,
You cant beat wurtz and pinkerton - both are small and not as fussy as othertypes. Regardeless, they must be well-drained - this is critcial. Create a planting mound at least 50cm above ground level and water regularly in the first couple of years.
An A and B variety is not necessary but if you have the space try growing a B type.
Hope this helps,
Rich
