Banana (forum)

Elizabeth starts with ...
Banana in a light frost area of Queensland.
I have a banana tree that has flowered and formed fruit in the last couple of weeks. We get occassional frosts, so I'm wondering if I am suppose to cover the fruit?
As you can no doubt tell, this is my first banana plant.

The fruit is only covered to keep bugs dirt etc off it.
we have to harvest ours in perth and ripen iside before the frosts come or they just shrivel and dry if left on tree.

Hi Elizabeth, don't forget to cut the 'bell' off the bottom of the bunch, when the fruit stops forming. This gives you bigger bananas. I have to cover mine, to stop the wallabies eating them :-)
