Sue starts with ...
Hi all,
I setting myself up to be semi self reliant with veggie patch and fruit trees and am after anyone near me with an orange tree i could take a cutting off.. I want to learn grafting and have a sturdy lemon tree but see if its possible to bud graft an orange onto it.. Any help would be appreciated

Hi Sue, can't help you with an orange tree cutting, but now is a good time to do grafting. Try a wedge type graft as well.

Thanks Brendan... Just took some loquat cuttings.. since then have heard they are really hard to grow from a cutting because they dont root that well .. well will give it a try...

Hi Sue - apparently u can do air layering with loquats quite successfully (haven't tried it myself) and Roleystone Julie is going to graft loquat onto a quince rootstock (which will keep it smaller)

Thanks amanda,,, But sadly the loquat cuttings died :( but then was at the local market and low and behold was loquat trees for $10.. took it as an omen and bought one.. In the last week have planted nectarine, Cherry, and loquat.. Today bought a orange, Banana and a Avocado trees,.. If the rain stops will venture out to plant them... Hubby has told me DEF NO MORE TREES!!
wonder if dwarf variets count?? LOL
