:P, I have one, don't know much about it but it grows really fast and looks pretty :)?. I was planing on trying to graft a mango on it but never got around to it. When it matures I'm going to need someone to send me a scion or three of whichever sex mine isn't. So remember that :)

Hi Jason...can u graft different plants this way? Would mangoe be compatible on kaffir? I know zero about grafting - I just assumed that they would have to be genus or species compatible? (but then my neem and casimiroa aren't, are they?)
I have been so busy just growing that I haven't thought about grafting - but if u can do different things like this - well - the mind boggles!? I'd stick everything onto neem, kaffir or capulin cherry here...

You can graft across Genus SOMETIMES. The Kaffir and Mango are closely related so I thought it would be worth a shot. Also sommmmmmetimes there's still a plant that isn't extinct that you can use as in interstem graft between the two that will allow them to be compatible. So if that failed I'd have to look for a plant somewhere in between mango and kafir which may or may not exist :).
The most commonly used graft I guess you would know about that goes across genus is Loquat onto Quince.
That doesn't need an intergraft, just goes straight on, although it does slow up the Loquat a lot :)

Thanks Jason - that's interesting. I guess these things are found out thru' trial n error?
If u could get the mangoe/kaffir thing going you would have a machine of a tree! ;)
I will look into my neem/sapote thing a bit further and see where it came from etc.
