Pawpaws (forum)

Can anyone help me and explain why my little green pawpaws are falling off. I gave it a good drink of epsom salts a while ago and I got one pawpaw to eat. Is this the case again or is there an under lying problem. There also seems to be a fungal problem as the leaves get spots all over and eventually die off?.

Hey Ash, Do they have good drainage around the root system? Paw paws require excellent drainage otherwise they are susceptible to lots of pests and diseases.

Yeah drainage isn't a problem, maybe not wet enough if anything.I might try that copper sulphate spray some one else recommended to help with the leaves. As for them dropping off it must be lacking in something.thanks for your reply.Ash

Hey Ash,
Here's a site that gives you the full details on growing pawpaw's.
http://www.tropicalpermaculture.com/growing-papaya.html
You might be able to compare what you are doing to what this guy is doing and having great success.
I drip water and feed mine probably 8 hours a day. (It's been very hot here). They're growing very strongly, about 9 months old from seed.
