Sick grapevine..Help? (forum)

Does anyone know what's going on with my grape-vine please?
It's a white muscat that is about 3yrs. When I pruned it last year it had the same problem (brown centre) so I cut back to places where it wasn't present. Now it has the same problem this year.
It is next door to a purple muscat which doesn't have this. The white is prone to powdery mildew so I spray with Kocide (copper spray) - but I'm not very religuous with my programme...can powdery mildew do this?
I was thinking of verticullum wilt but wouldn't the vine have died by now?

The cambium layer looks healthy so I wouldn't worry too much, it may just be maturing of the wood in the centre of the grapevine.
