Thorny berries (forum)

snottiegobble starts with ...
Bunnings ( Busso) are presently selling blackberry cultivars such as boysenberries, girlsenberries etc. What gets me is these canes are so lethal that nobody would tolerate them in the garden but for their fruit! When living in Vic I was given root cuttings of a cultivar that quickly produced lots of delicious large berries ( within 2 years) & long canes with NO THORNS!
Anyone know what it was??

peter says...
probably thornless blackberry.
i could send you some rooted cuttings
if you want any.
i would strongly suggest anyone wanting to plant any thorned brambles that they
put them in a pot. i have been putting
off having to dig up a thorned blackberry for a while now, meanwhile
its getting bigger and bigger.
also have young, bouson, lawton
and tay berries.
