Apricot Tree

    1 responses

Noticed yesterday my Glengarry apricot had some bark missing right down to the woody part of the trunk. Have no idea what would cause this, if it can be stopped from progressing and if there is something I can put on the bare timber or is the tree doomed. Leaves look ok and the tree was obtained, bare rooted, middle of 2015. If somebody can shed some light on how to proceed it would be greatly appreciated.

It appears that there was damage was done some time ago under the bark and then the dead surface flaked away as either side has old callus tissue now healed. Maybe an old fungal or bacterial infection.
