j.grey starts with ... Hi, I have the below Wurtz Avocado in a 30cm pot. As you can see in one image it experienced sunburn it's first summer but I'm more concerned about the black mark on the stem and leaves, could this be a fungal issue? I'm in Adelaide. The other pot is a Bacon which seems to be doing fine. I have checked this and other forums and think it might be similar but not sure: https://www.daleysfruit.com.au/forum/sick-avocado-tree/

David01 says... Hi j.grey, From picture 4&5, the stem got sunburn for sure. You need to cover it with the water base paint. Now it is a bit too late but you can prepare it for next hot summer. Also, for young Avocado which does not have many leaves to protect its trunk and stems. I prefer to use 50% shade cloth to cover the whole plant for the first few years.
