Avocado tree (forum)

I bough my dwarf avocado tree 2 months ago. Haven't planted it out yet just waiting a few more weeks for the chance of frost to be minimilised. I have no new leaf growth as yet but amazing amounts of flower buds. Is this common on such a small avocado tree to have so many flower buds without any leaf growth? Should I be cutting of the flowers to encourage the growth of new leaves? In what way will it affect the tree if I was to cut them off? I'm just a bit concerned the tree may concentrate too much on the flowers and the rest may start to suffer.

Its doing what it normally does at this time of year as that grafted bit is from a mature flowering specimen- snip off each flower stem about 1cm above its base - NOT THE WHOLE LOT AT FLOWER BASE - Because new leaves will come from there and you could totally stuff it up for maybe another year.I would personally let it do full cycle of flowering - leaves going yellow from carb uptake - leaf drop and new stem leaf growth late spring - pull off any set fruit if any.

I will let it flower full cycle. Sounds like that is the best way. This puts my mind at ease, thank you for your help.
