Best Pomegranate (forum)

Eve starts with ...
We are thinking of putting in a Pomegranate and seek advice on varieties. Research so far: most sites argue the Rosaya is more sweet and juicy than the Wonderful variety but both are good choices.

Has anyone grown either and can comment on success, growing tips and fruit quality.

We are mainly looking at it for juice.

According to Daleys it's only partially self fertile so having two different varieties is probably a good idea to improve your fruit set anyway. So why not try both?

Thanks Mark. I wasn't aware of that so maybe I will have to make room. Room is fast running out with all the desired fruit trees on the list but it is amazing what you can make fit. :)

Hi Eve, I definitely know the feeling about running out of room!
I've got two myself for this reason. I've deliberately planted them in the same hole. So far so good but they are less than a year old. I'm hoping that it will restrict their growth as well as improve pollination, but we'll see. It's either a masterstroke or a disaster, time will tell!

The two in one hole is a good approach. I have done this with the dwarf apples.

I'm thinking I might try your approach for the pomegranates too.
