Black Magic Passionfruit in Brisbane (forum)

Geraldine and John starts with ...
Our vine has grown prolifically since planting in Dec 2013 but very few flowers so only 3 fruit on our side, 2 on our neighbours. It continues to grow up into the Tulipwood Tree and the Mulberry. No disease and big healthy leaves. It is on a watering system like the rest of the new garden, which is thriving. Should we persevere?

It could be a pollination issue. Here is a video that Kath did from Daleys Nursery showing how she pollinates using a brush.

Obviously not the Black Magic Passionfruit. A good and vigerous passionfruit in brisbane however should thrive without having to do this tedious work and the ones from Daleys are chosen for the vigour and ability to give you quite a big crop for the right climate.

I am a fan of the panama red personally and was in worder at it's speed and the size of it's crop.

Thanks so much for your response. I notice the Panama Red fruits between Autumn and through to Spring. What is the best planting time. We were thinking of leaving the Black in through Feb to see if it gets another?? flush, but if you think this might not happen, we should probably pull it all out now. What do you think? Wait or do it now.

Yes perhaps give it another year but if it is 2 years and you are not happy with it and you have tried pollination etc. Then I wouldn't persevere passionfruit should go off with a bang in Brisbane :) You can plant them year round.
