Black Sapote lost Leaves

Kindu starts with ...
Hi all I have a black Sapote in a pot (over a year) but this week we had extreme wind and blew about 95% of the leaves off, will the leaves grow back or will I have to get rid of it, it has been growing really well and have had no problems at all until now

Is there a chance to plant it into the ground? Black sapote trees do become very large over time. You should be able to see some new growth now that spring has started
