BJ says... Here's my $.02 Ugni - prefers colder climate, but may get away with it in Ipswich. Doubt it though Tropical apples - No problem, other than lots of bugs Kwai Muk - fine, as long as protected from frost when young if near Ipswich GG Plum - I dont think so. Low chill ones are fine, but Oriental Fruit Moth is a bugger on all stonefruit, killing new growth and getting into bagged fruit. Pecan - many are okay around Ipswich - not sure about exact varieties Poshte - few trees around. One or two have been fruited. Seems fine. Arguta - not sure Coconut - fruits inner city and bayside, not in the west Blueberries - fruit well in pots and Gulf Coast can grow and fruit really well in ground. Saw a 2m tall one this week loaded in fruit. Was in sandy bayside soil though. | About the Author Theposterformerlyknownas Brisbane 14th October 2012 8:14pm #UserID: 3270 Posts: 1552 View All Theposterformerlyknownas's Edible Fruit Trees |

GardenOfColumba says... Thanks BJ, you've got an impressive collection, it's good to hear your thoughts. I think I'm going to go with a shoshonii pecan after I have another look at the pecan in the mt-cootha botanical garden. Might give up on the ugni, I've heard of some growing out in Redlands, but it gets significantly hotter out here. | About the Author GardenOfColumba1 16th October 2012 10:18pm #UserID: 7338 Posts: 1 View All GardenOfColumba1's Edible Fruit Trees |
