Cherry Tree Question (forum)

Hello! I planted a stella cherry tree about 2 months ago and would like to know whether the flowers come out first or the leaves. I have leaves at the moment. I thought it would be similar to apple trees. Blossoms first then leaves. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Marie,
My stella cherry usually gets leaves first closely followed by flowers. Seeing as this is its first year, you may not get flowers at all. Mine didn't until its second year. Any flowers you do get this young will be low down on old wood and may well be hiding under leaves.

Our stella tree is in it's first spring with us and we only got 3 flowers on old wood, although we now have 3 cherries growing! How exciting.

Thanks for all replies. I keep forgetting to look at the forum. I have a lot of branches, leaves and no flowers. Hopefully next year I will have cherries. My friend just lives around the corner from me and she has a cherry tree and heaps of cherries every year but the birds get to them first. I'm jealous.
