custard apple (forum)

I am looking for someone in Melbourne to share the cost to purchase the Grafted Cherimoya (Bays) and Custard Apple (African pride). As the nursery (in Sydney) only sell (to the dealer) at the min qty 20. The total cost of 20 trees are $400 plus transport to Melbourne $180 (by truck). Which is $29 per tree. The trees will be available in Mar 2018 but the order needs to be confirmed by Nov-Dec 2017. Please contact me if anyone interest to share the buy as I can only afford 4 trees.
You can find more info from http://www.treegrowers.com.au
Thanks/David

Hi David
I tried that a few years ago, I can not post my experience as Daley's will not let me place negative comments about other companies on their website. However I am very much interested in Bays Cherimoya. I live in Eden so best if I can help pay for a tree and just send me some scions to graft.

I am only interested in cherimoyas, so that would be 2 Bays cherimoyas. I am going to ask on a facebook group that I follow as there may be more people interested.

Hi Allybanana,
I will contact courier to see how much does it cost to send the whole tree to Eden as the chance to graft in Mar 2018 is very slim.

Hi Markmelb.
Yes, I also looked at that report a while ago but friend of mine in San Jose said Bays tastes quite good, it is better than others (don't forget this report is based on one person view). Also, the best variety may not produce a good taste if it does not grow in its ideal environment.
I agreed FDJ may be the best but it is not available at the moment. However, I am looking for different Cherimoyas varieties including Bays. Do you know where I can get FDJ, Sofia etc?. Thanks
Kind regards, David

According to Louis Glowinski page 224, Cherimoya when changing their prefer location, will drastically changes the fruit’s characteristics. I was wondering has anyone tasted the FDJ, Campa, Bays and other cultivars grow in Melbourne?. Thanks
