Does anyone have any idea if I can rescue this mango plant please. I purchased this dwarf Irwin mango plant last year after a very long wait and was starting to flower couple of weeks ago. Suddenly, this WK, I noticed flower buds and leaves wilting. I dug the ground to investigate further and saw the trunk few inches above the root had rotten. I am so sad now as it had my dad's memories.
I m a very basic backyard Gardner based in bellbird park Queensland and I have no idea what caused this. Any feedback is much appreciated.thankyou

It looks like the trunk was surrounded by thick mulch which rotted the bark and it is very unlikely to recover. You may have to buy a new plant and this time avoid putting any mulch near the trunk.
