Dwarf Mango (King Thai) Pruning Advice (forum)

Hi All,
In November 2020 I purchased a King Thai Dwarf Mango Tree from Daleys. The tree was planted in-ground and subsequently flushed not long thereafter, resulting in the growth of two branches.
I have read a lot that it is important to prune and allow 3 branches to grow, which are then tip pruned, and the process repeated.
With this in mind, should I retain the 2 branches and hope the new growth coming from the main stem is a branch (as opposed to a flower)? Or do I simply prune back to the main stem to encourage more branching?
The tree is currently about 1.5m tall and has never been pruned (possibly tip pruned on arrival from Daleys).
Thank you for any advice you can offer!

I have exactly the same experience - just 2 branches at about 1.5 m. I decided to cut the tree lower at just under 1 m and am now waiting to see whether I get 3 branchlets in the coming Spring. I decided on this as I really do want to limit the height of this tree by regular pruning as shown on the internet. My other mango tree which is many years old already was not pruned and is getting rather hard to reach.

Thanks Edward3, I'll have to give it a prune in the coming days and hope for the best once spring arrives (which seems like it already has!)
