Eating Mango bark (forum)

Dilbert starts with ...
Hi
I have something eating the bark on my mango tree. I think it might be a possum.
The chewing is causing branches to die, and the problem is getting pretty bad, about a 1/4 of the tree is impacted now.
I was thinking about painting the bark or spraying it with something to prevent the animal destroying the tree further. Any thoughts?
