Nicole Townsend starts with ... I wish to plant out a formal hedge against my front fence to a height of 1-1.5m and length of about 7m. I am hoping to keep the hedge width quite compact to about 0.6m I was thinking of the Strawberry Guava but am interested to hear of other suggestions. Has anyone had any success with a fruit tree hedge? | About the Author Nicole Townsend Newcastle (Cooks Hill), NSW 5th February 2008 11:53pm #UserID: 649 Posts: 6 View All Nicole Townsend's Edible Fruit Trees |

Leona says... I have two fruiting hedges of strawberry guavas (one hedge is the yellow cultivar, the other the red). The red one is doing better, so far. Other suggestions are Chillean Guava, tropical guava, Feijoa, Citrus (especially dwarf or smaller varieties such as kumquats, meyer lemons and mandarins), Lilly Pillies (so many different varieties to choose from), Acerola, Pomegranate, Brazillian Cherry (personal favourite - very attractive shrub), Avocado hedge (as suggested by the Garden Gurus), Irish Strawberry Tree and there are many, many more you could try! Even mix and match if you like ;-) Good luck! | About the Author 6th February 2008 11:04am #UserID: 0 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |

Nicole Townsend says... Hi all Thanx for the suggestions! You've sent me scurrying through the Daleys website and the net looking for photos and info. I think I've settled on the Grumichama. It looks very pretty in flower. Any suggestion on the planting width? Thanx again for all your feedback!
