i need some advice to set up my espalier trellis for dwarf apples please. i have purchased 4 varieties of dwarf apples on MM102 rootstock from Daleys. is there a reason that many sites recommend only two horizontal wires (why not 3 or 4 or more??). also what happens when you get to the "top"? do you just keep trimming off the vertical shoots?
many thanks for your advice
Leah

Some good tips on pruning espaliered apples at the woodbridge nursery site.
http://www.woodbridgefruittrees.com.au/html/pruning.html
There are other apple articles on the site that may also be of help.

Normally 2 wires is for stability and as a training aid, the branches are not actually strapped to them, rather tied down via string to the nearest wire.

I am planning on espaliering apricot/plum/peach & nectarine-this is my first attempt & have been reading the links people have put up. Is it as complicated as it looks or am I just paranoid I won't be able to shape them properly? Are all these trees suitable-I haven't found much on apricots? Thanks for any advice.

www.petercoppin.com runs lessons very cheaply in the Perth hills.
Poida describes apricots as the "cats" of the fruit world, when they wanna be your friend they will otherwise not.

I am also planning on espaliating a variety of dwarf citrus trees along the back of my property as a functional screen. I have recently been reading about Finger Limes and found that dwarf varieties available.
Is it possible to espaliate dwarf Finger Limes?
