Can anyone recommend a quick-growing shade tree for a chook yard? It needs to be cold-tolerant.

Thanks very much

Hi there Hilary,

perhaps you could try Tree Lucerne Tagasaste (Chamaecytisus palmensis),i have grown these and they are fast growing and can provide shade for the chooks. It is a frost hardy legume so also beneficial for the soil and i believe it is also used as animal fodder,

Cheers,
Andrew
