Fig tree

Our fig tree in Brisbane is one and a half meter high and approx 4 years old, once transplanted.
It sits on a sunny site, but it does not grow in height neither does it bear fruit. Recently I saw just round the corner a very small fig tree full of fruits. What do we wrong? Is it a deficiency? There are sometimes insets which damage the leaves.
