Finger Lime

    2 responses

My 3 yO finger lime had heaps of flowers this year and lots appeared to be pollinated at first but I now have only one fruit which is about 5 mm long, and is already dark brownish. Can this be my harvest for the year. The label when I got it was Rainforest Pearl.
I am unsure if the spot is the problem or our climate. It is protected from our NE summer Winds and will soon be a bit more protected from the southerlies. It is in a spot that is part shade (being a rainforest plant I assumed it would not like full sun)Should I use potash next year???

Lynne,
Does your tree still have flowers on it, if so the fruits are still forming. They can be very difficult to see when they are little and I usually find there are more on my tree than I can see. I have my grafted fingerlimes planted in full sun and they are thriving. By the way, the best way to pick them is with a large stick, knock the fruit off, as they fall when ripe and then rattle it down to the ground where you can pick it up without being spiked.
